Best Climbing Backpacks - δ (Delta) Pack

As one of the best climbing backpacks on the market, our δ (Delta) Pack will not disappoint those that are on a light and fast climbing mission or that just want a light and flexible climbing pack. With a 35L capacity, it has just enough room for a multi-day assault on your project climb, but easily and effectively compresses down for smaller day trips. The δ Pack uses a hip hugging 1.5" webbing hip belt that cradles the hips and pulls the pack into your lumbar region, increasing load stability, without interfering with your climbing harness. The δ Pack also includes means to attach/detach our Crampon Pouch or basic webbing belts to secure crampons, our exclusive Hybrid Ice Axe Loops to attach any mountaineering ice axe or climbing tools, and reinforced back handle and Daisy Chain Handle. Other ultralight backpacks do not contain so many climbing specific features, and that’s why Figure Four's δ (Delta) Pack is one of the best climbing backpacks available today. With the δ Pack you can focus on the route and surroundings rather than your pack.

F4 Delta Pack Fit - Best Climbing Backpacks

Comparison of the anatomical fit between the δ (Delta) Pack (shown in gray/black) and other backpacks (shown in red)

Some other packs do not focus on pattern contours to mimic anatomic features and can leave a large space between the pack and the lumbar region when the pack is full. Pack frames can reduce this space (i.e. aluminum stays), but limit mobility while climbing. However, the δ (Delta) Pack is engineered for fit and mobility by utilizing anatomically cut side panels and contoured seams near the bottom of the pack to give it an ultra-close fit and not obstruct your gait. The side panels have a neutral profile that mimics the curvature of the back of a standing person. The Result: improved upright mobility without hindering movement while climbing in steep terrain or down climbing. This makes this ultralight backpack one of the best climbing backpacks.

When other pack's hip belt is removed, the user generally is left with a 1 inch webbing belt with one anchor point to their body. This does not center the pack well or prevent pack movement. However, the δ (Delta) Pack uses a hip cradling 1.5 inch webbing hip belt with a side-pull tightening system that further snugs the load into your lumbar region by providing extra anchor points to your body. This is facilitated with a highly flexible 0.035 inch HDPE sheet that allows free movement and centers the pack well, preventing any side-to-side and up-and-down movement.

Furthermore, the δ (Delta) Pack shoulder straps are contoured and have not too much, not too little, padding. All of this provides a comfortable, yet highly technical fit at an ultralight backpacks weight.
